I am the sponsor/trustee of the Thunderbolts Amateur Radio Club.

TARC operates under the FCC callsign of KB2OLT. This too is a vanity call...see the "BOLT" in the call?

TARC is in its infancy and hopefully will be launched during the summer of 2006.

The primary purpose of TARC will be for contesting, and to learn the fine art of proper radio communication, protocol and working under a fun, but stressful environment. I believe that contesting can provide the skills necessary to perform under stress and with accuracy, during emergency communications.

Of course, TARC will also do its best to encourage the development of personal skills, to encourage the upgrading of license classes through a teaching effort, and for all of those involved to share in their joy of the hobby, so that all of us can have a great, fun filled, learning experience.

TARC will attempt to provide the resources for local students to become involved in ham radio.
